“I’m just not motivated to save money.”
“I want to start freelancing but don’t know where to start.”
“I need more money. I can’t afford so and so.”
I hear the same complaints all of the time. I’m going to wake you up and piss you off today.
There’s more to getting things done than just posting quotes on social media! So stop posting quotes for one day and do something real.
At my gym there are all sorts of characters that get off on posting quotes and pictures about working out and such. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m the biggest sucker for a quote. I just don’t see the point in posting quotes when you don’t plan on following your own advice. A motivational quote is there to pump you up even more when you’re already doing something. Posting the quote shouldn’t be seen as doing something productive in itself.
Where am I going here?
I need to show off a little today to show you what’s possible. I’m not afraid to self-promote if it means helping you.
I love to work with readers, friends and students.
I really do. I wish I could work with more people, but there’s a finite amount of time in a day. I also find that folks respect you more when they actually pay for your services.
There’s no regard for free. And freemium is the worst business model. Anyways, on to a really cool reader testimonial that made my day…
“I believe I stumbled upon Martin’s blog somewhere along the lines of my research for financial help. So beyond glad I found it! His no BS actions and words are unique from anything I had encountered yet. He believes anyone is capable of having success but won’t hesitate to be completely honest about the journey and the difficult aspects of it. His straight forward approach helped me to quit thinking and start acting on the ideas I had. The array of information he provides and his accessibility were a large part of it all. Now, I am on my way, with his help, to achieving the successes I only spent time dreaming about.”

Boom! That makes me so happy.
But wait, you came here to add $5k to your networth. Is that even possible?

A friend made $2,100 from tutoring while in college and you could too. I shared this story a few years ago and wanted to bring it up again so that you can make some money tutoring this summer or plan for your business for the fall semester.
You’re already an expert at something. Trust me.
David wrote about his plans to deal with debt as a student. His story was refreshing to hear because it’s not everyday you meet folks that grab life by the balls instead of blaming the world for their problems.
Austin wrote about how he got hired as an English teacher abroad and how you can do it in five easy steps. This was one of the coolest stories on Studenomics. “If you’re going to be crazy, you have to get paid for it or else you’re going to be locked up.” – Hunter S. Thompson
My advice to anybody who complains about money has become a little grouchy. Someone last week said that she kept buying new outfits because she didn’t want to be seen in the same one twice or “I’ll look poor”. Without filtering at all, I blurted out “If you stopped buying new outfits all the time, you wouldn’t be poor.” Thankfully, she took it as constructive criticism and actually thanked me after we talked longer…it could have ended way worse than that…
Haha I love it! I have no filter. I just try not to give unsolicited advice.
That’s a funny theory about not wearing the same outfit twice. I used to subscribe to it. Now I don’t care at all. I’ll wear whatever I can find.
